Natural
therapy is the science of human mechanics.
Gentle massage & manipulations of the muscles, ligaments & joints
help to realign the body and alleviate tension allowing it to function
better. This treatment may involve stretches, massage, exercises and
neuromuscular and other techniques.
Cranial
sacral
work
is an even gentler form of treatment where gentle pressure
is applied to the head. It can alleviate retained moulding from the
birth process, influence the flow of the cerebrospinal fluid encouraging
its movement down the spine and influencing all the tissues in the body,
at any age. It can be helpful for birth trauma, colic, glue ear, relaxation
of contractures and spasms, behavioural and learning difficulties, sleeplessness,
lymphatic function and astma etc.
Cranial sacral work is particularly
helpful to children who have Down's Syndrome and whose sinuses are not
properly developed, but it can help a wide variety of complaints, and
the children enjoy it.

Medical herbalism.
Plants have been used since the begining of time to help
restore health. Many medicines used by Doctors today come from plants
originally. Remedies are chosen for their low toxicity and lack of side
effects and specifically for the individual. Although we do not supply
medicines we can recomend remedies, most of which are easily obtainable
in supermarkets and health shops. Massage with essential oils constitutes
a part of herbal medicine.
Naturopathy is
a system of healing that seeks to promote health by stmulating and supporting
the body's inherent power to regain harmony and balance. It is a holistic
appraoch looking at the whole person and trying to find the cause of
symptoms. The naturopathic therapies used will involve a variety of
natural methods of healing for the individual. A diet diary to indentify
problem foods may be given and/or personal nutritional advice.
The initial
consultation with carer and child will take
a detailed case history and will determine which combination of therapies
will be used. Emphasis will be placed on furthering inderstanding of
the child's condition and symptoms with explanations about the course
of treatment to empower parents, carers and children in the long term
well being of the child. Carers and children are free to ask questions
about any part of the treatment at any time.
